Commitment to Excellence in Mathematics at Alexandra Park

Alexandra Park has a long-standing tradition of excellence in Mathematics. Both Mr. Brooke (Headteacher) and Mrs. Williams (Director of the Research School and Deputy Headteacher) have served as NCETM Mastery Lead Teachers and were fortunate to visit Shanghai to study effective maths teaching and professional development strategies. We were also privileged to host teachers from Shanghai, who led CPD sessions for teachers across the North West, delivering model lessons and professional development training.

Our students consistently excel in both maths progress and achievement, particularly our disadvantaged pupils. However, we remain deeply committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement for both our staff and children.

Our dedication to providing the highest standards in maths teaching and learning, supported by ongoing high-quality CPD for staff, has been further strengthened. We are delighted to announce that, from 2024, Alexandra Park has become a White Rose Champion School. This new partnership not only enhances CPD opportunities for our team and teachers across our local area but also establishes a powerful collaboration with White Rose colleagues to develop effective approaches to maths teaching and learning.

This year, we are focusing on innovative ways to enhance students’ reasoning and problem-solving skills, leading to exciting and impactful improvements in our own and other schools’ maths teaching practices.
